About Baan Prayanak Farm.
Sebastien had been living in a Buddhist temple for about 5 years before going onto a Scottish Island to complete a 1 year cloistered (isolated) meditation retreat as a monk. After finishing the retreat he discussed with his main teacher, Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche, the possibility of starting a holistic health centre. At a similar time HH The Karmapa also suggested ways to heal the planet and live more wisely on the planet. With this in mind we looked for a suitable place.
Before we got the farm, it had been used as a conventional farm. This meant lots of chemicals, one crop and very little TLC. When we bought the land, the previous owners even chopped down all the best trees before leaving. We had about 2 left alive on a 3 acre site!
We have now planted many trees and diversified the crops. We are working hard to repair the soil structure and the balance of life. We also haven't left our other interests behind, we still do regular meditation and exercise even though we are working hard on getting the farm into shape.
With every day, we have a new adventure, farming itself can be fun, we connect to the land and ourselves as we work. We also go to temples and ceremonies regularly. We even meet new people who come and stay with us. (We also get a lot of wild animals staying as well, 2 of our dogs, a lot of fish, birds, insects and a turtle are just some of the animals that have all adopted us)
